Soft & Fluffy Bread Rolls Recipe

These soft and fluffy bread rolls are perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be customized with your favorite herbs or spices.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions:

  1. Activate Yeast: In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5-10 minutes, or until the yeast is foamy.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Add the melted butter, egg, and milk to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring with a wooden spoon until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  6. First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  7. Shape the Rolls: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball.
  8. Second Rise: Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Cool: Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • For extra flavor, add 1-2 tablespoons of chopped fresh herbs (such as rosemary, thyme, or oregano) to the dough.
  • To make sweet rolls, add 2 tablespoons of sugar to the dough.
  • To make dinner rolls, brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter before baking.

Enjoy your delicious and fluffy bread rolls!
