Soft and Fluffy Stuffed Bread Rolls

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp oil

For Filling (Optional):

  • 1 cup boiled shredded chicken / vegetables / cheese
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or cream
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp chili flakes

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it rest for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, egg, butter, and oil. Knead into a soft dough.
  3. Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour until double in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and divide into equal balls.
  5. Flatten each ball and add stuffing in the center.
  6. Seal properly and shape into rolls.
  7. Place rolls on a greased baking tray. Cover and rest for 20 minutes.
  8. Brush with egg wash or milk.
  9. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 18–22 minutes until golden.
  10. Brush with butter after baking for extra softness.

TIPS

  • Use warm milk, not hot, to activate yeast properly.
  • Do not overfill, or rolls may open while baking.
  • For softer rolls, cover with cloth after baking.
  • You can use sweet or savory filling as desired.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep fresh.
