INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups whole milk
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- ⅛ tsp salt
- 1½ tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
(Optional toppings: whipped cream, fresh berries, crushed cookies)
Instructions
- Mix dry ingredients:
In a medium saucepan (off the heat), whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt. - Add milk:
Slowly add in the milk while whisking to ensure there are no lumps. - Cook:
Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly with a whisk or spoon until the mixture thickens and starts to bubble — about 5–7 minutes. - Add flavor:
Once thickened, remove from heat. Stir in the butter and vanilla extract until smooth. - Chill:
Pour the pudding into small serving cups or bowls. Let it cool at room temperature for 10 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour. - Serve:
Top with whipped cream, berries, or crushed cookies if desired. Enjoy!
