Ingredients
- 4 medium-sized russet potatoes
- 3 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Prepare Potatoes: Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly. Slice them thinly, about 1/8 inch thick, but not all the way through. Leave the base intact to hold the slices together (use chopsticks or wooden spoons on either side of the potato as a guide).
- Season Potatoes: In a small bowl, mix olive oil (or butter), garlic powder, paprika, thyme (if using), salt, and pepper. Gently brush the mixture over and between the potato slices.
- Bake: Place the seasoned potatoes on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and golden.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top of each potato. Return to the oven for another 5–10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.
