Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix Dough: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
- Shape: Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Second Rise: Cover and let it rise for another 30–45 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
