Simple Banana Bread Recipe

This recipe yields a moist and flavorful banana bread that’s perfect for a quick breakfast or afternoon snack.

Ingredients:

  • Ripe Bananas: 3 medium, mashed
  • All-Purpose Flour: 1 3/4 cups
  • Granulated Sugar: 1 cup
  • Unsalted Butter: 1/2 cup, melted and cooled slightly
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Baking Soda: 1 teaspoon
  • Baking Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon  
  • Optional Add-ins:
    • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
    • 1/4 cup chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan (9×5 inches).  
  2. Combine wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.  
  5. Stir in add-ins: If using, gently fold in the walnuts or chocolate chips.
  6. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.  
  7. Cool: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips & Variations:

  • For extra moisture: Add a tablespoon of sour cream or plain yogurt to the batter.
  • Spice it up: Add 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
  • Make it healthier: Use whole wheat flour or substitute some of the sugar with brown sugar or honey.
