- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 250g (9 oz) minced meat (beef, lamb, or turkey)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano or thyme
- ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or feta)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame or nigella seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cook the Filling: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until soft. Add minced meat, breaking it apart, and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano. Let cool.
- Prepare Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut into squares or rectangles.
- Assemble: Spoon the cooled meat mixture onto one half of each pastry piece, leaving space at the edges. Sprinkle cheese on top.
- Seal Pastries: Fold over the pastry and press edges together with a fork. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or nigella seeds.
- Bake: Place pastries on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
