Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) beef (flank steak, sirloin, or any preferred cut), thinly sliced
- 4 cups cabbage, shredded or chopped
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or your choice of cooking oil)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated or minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef:
- Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips. If you want it to be even more tender, freeze the beef for 20-30 minutes before slicing.
- Make the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), rice vinegar, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Stir-Fry the Beef:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced beef to the pan and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and slightly browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
- Cook the Vegetables:
- In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil if needed. Add the onions and cook for 2 minutes, until softened.
- Add the garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using) and stir-fry for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the shredded cabbage and cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage softens but still has a bit of crunch.
- Combine Beef and Vegetables:
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the cabbage mixture.
- Pour in the sauce and toss everything together to coat evenly. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is heated through and the flavors are well combined.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds (if using).
- Serve the stir-fry over steamed rice or enjoy it on its own for a low-carb meal.
