Sausage Hashbrown Casserole Recipe

A hearty and flavorful casserole perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage, browned and crumbled
  • 1 (16 ounce) package frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup  
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.  
  2. In a large bowl, combine browned sausage, thawed hash browns, cream of mushroom soup, milk, onion, and green pepper. Mix well.
  3. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Let the casserole stand for a few minutes before serving.

Tips and Variations:

  • For extra flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder and 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme to the casserole mixture.
  • Use different types of sausage, such as spicy sausage or Italian sausage.
  • Add other vegetables to the casserole, such as diced bell peppers, spinach, or mushrooms.  
  • Top the casserole with a layer of crushed crackers or cornflakes for added crunch.
  • Serve with sour cream, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce.
