Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 8 slices of bread (preferably thick, like Texas toast)
- 8 cooked sausage links
- 1 tbsp butter (for cooking)
- Maple syrup (for serving)
- Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Prepare the Sausage: Cook the sausage links according to package instructions (pan-fry, bake, or grill) until fully cooked. Set aside.
- Make the French Toast Batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until fully combined.
- Assemble the Roll-Ups:
- Take a slice of bread and cut off the crusts.
- Flatten the bread using a rolling pin.
- Place a cooked sausage link at one end of the slice and roll the bread tightly around the sausage.
- Dip in Batter: Dip each roll-up in the egg mixture, making sure it’s fully coated.
- Cook the Roll-Ups: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter. Once melted, place the roll-ups in the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- Serve: Remove the roll-ups from the skillet and place them on a plate. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
