Ingredient
- 1 pre-made pie crust or homemade crust
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
- 3/4 cup honey (mild or wildflower honey works best)
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- Flaky sea salt, for topping
Instruction
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place your pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges. Chill the crust while preparing the filling.
- Prepare Butter Mixture: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Make Filling: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, sea salt, and honey. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking until fully incorporated.
- Combine Ingredients: Slowly whisk in the browned butter, heavy cream, vinegar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Fill Pie Crust: Pour the honey mixture into the chilled pie crust.
- Bake: Place the pie in the oven and bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the filling is set around the edges but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- Cool and Garnish: Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool completely on a wire rack. Sprinkle the top with flaky sea salt before serving.
- Serve: Slice and enjoy your salted honey pie with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired!
