Rich Banana Bread recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional, but recommended!)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt (for extra richness)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix mashed bananas and melted butter until smooth.
  3. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Slowly add dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined—don’t overmix!
  6. Fold in sour cream and optional add-ins like nuts or chocolate chips.
  7. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  9. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
