Rich Banana Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (for extra richness)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas. Add melted butter and mix well.
  3. Stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in sour cream (or yogurt) and any optional mix-ins like nuts or chocolate chips.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
