Ingredients
- 1 lb raw chicken gizzards
- Water (for cleaning and boiling)
- 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice (for cleaning)
- 1 tsp salt (for cleaning)
- Optional for cooking:
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp oil or butter
Instructions
- Clean the Gizzards:
- Rinse gizzards under cold water.
- Soak in a bowl of water with 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice and 1 tsp salt for 15 minutes.
- Drain and rinse thoroughly.
- If not already cleaned, trim off any yellow lining or extra fat.
- Boil the Gizzards:
- Place cleaned gizzards in a pot and cover with water.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45–60 minutes until tender.
- Drain and set aside.
- Sauté or Fry (Optional Cooking Method):
- Heat oil or butter in a pan over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and garlic, cook until soft.
- Add boiled gizzards, season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Sauté for 5–10 minutes until golden and flavorful.
