Raw Chicken Gizzards Preparation and Cooking Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb raw chicken gizzards
  • Water (for cleaning and boiling)
  • 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice (for cleaning)
  • 1 tsp salt (for cleaning)
  • Optional for cooking:
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tsp black pepper
    • 1/2 tsp paprika
    • Salt to taste
    • 1 tbsp oil or butter

Instructions

  1. Clean the Gizzards:
    • Rinse gizzards under cold water.
    • Soak in a bowl of water with 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice and 1 tsp salt for 15 minutes.
    • Drain and rinse thoroughly.
    • If not already cleaned, trim off any yellow lining or extra fat.
  2. Boil the Gizzards:
    • Place cleaned gizzards in a pot and cover with water.
    • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45–60 minutes until tender.
    • Drain and set aside.
  3. Sauté or Fry (Optional Cooking Method):
    • Heat oil or butter in a pan over medium heat.
    • Add chopped onion and garlic, cook until soft.
    • Add boiled gizzards, season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
