Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy. You can use a hand mixer or whisk for this step.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, beating until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- If desired, fold in chocolate chips and/or chopped nuts for extra texture and flavor.
- Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may still look soft, but they’ll firm up as they cool.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
