Potato with Egg Tikki is a delicious and hearty snack or appetizer, combining the soft texture of mashed potatoes with the richness of egg. Perfectly spiced and crispy on the outside, these tikki are perfect for any meal or a satisfying snack.
Ingredients
- 3 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 2 large eggs (one for mixing and one for dipping)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (optional)
- Oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, one beaten egg, chopped onions, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- If the mixture feels too loose, add breadcrumbs to help bind it. You can also add chopped coriander leaves for extra flavor.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each portion into a round or oval-shaped patty (tikki).
- Heat oil in a shallow frying pan over medium heat.
- Beat the second egg in a small bowl. Dip each tikki into the egg and then coat it lightly with breadcrumbs.
- Fry the tikkis in the hot oil, cooking them in batches if needed. Fry until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides (about 3-4 minutes per side).
- Remove from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with chutney or ketchup. Enjoy your delicious Potato with Egg Tikki!
