Potato Fritters recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped or grated
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika or chili flakes (optional for heat)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the potatoes:
After grating the potatoes, squeeze out as much excess water as possible using a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth.
  2. Mix the batter:
In a large bowl, combine grated potatoes, onion, eggs, flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and any optional spices. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Heat the oil:
In a skillet over medium heat, add enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Let it get hot.
  4. Fry the fritters:
Scoop spoonfuls of the potato mixture and gently flatten them in the pan. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Drain and serve:
Place cooked fritters on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with sour cream, ketchup, or your favorite dip.
