Ingredients
- 3 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
- 1 small onion, finely chopped or grated
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 tsp paprika or chili flakes (optional for heat)
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the potatoes:
After grating the potatoes, squeeze out as much excess water as possible using a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth. - Mix the batter:
In a large bowl, combine grated potatoes, onion, eggs, flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and any optional spices. Mix well until fully combined. - Heat the oil:
In a skillet over medium heat, add enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Let it get hot. - Fry the fritters:
Scoop spoonfuls of the potato mixture and gently flatten them in the pan. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. - Drain and serve:
Place cooked fritters on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with sour cream, ketchup, or your favorite dip.
