- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (undrained)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 8 oz egg noodles, cooked and drained
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or mozzarella)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until meat is browned. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, mix the cooked egg noodles with sour cream and cottage cheese until well coated.
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half the noodle mixture, then half the meat mixture, and sprinkle with 1 cup shredded cheese.
- Repeat layers, ending with remaining shredded cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
