Polpette di Salsiccia

Ingredients

  • 500g (1 lb) Italian sausage (mild or spicy, casings removed)
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, for frying
  • 2 cups tomato sauce (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sausage meat, egg, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix gently until all ingredients are well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a walnut.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Fry the meatballs in batches until golden brown on all sides and fully cooked (about 8–10 minutes).
  6. If desired, add the cooked meatballs to a pot of simmering tomato sauce and cook for an additional 10 minutes for extra flavor.
  7. Serve hot with pasta, bread, or as an appetizer.

Would you like me to also give you a baked version (healthier, less oily) of these sausage meatballs?
