Pioneer Woman–style Cheeseburger Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup Bisquick (or all-purpose baking mix)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • Optional toppings: pickles, ketchup, mustard, chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Season the beef mixture with salt and pepper. Spread evenly in a greased 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together the Bisquick mix, milk, and eggs until smooth.
  6. Pour the Bisquick mixture evenly over the beef and cheese in the pie dish.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown.
  8. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with your favorite burger toppings if desired.
