Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) thinly sliced ribeye steak (or shaved beef)
- 1 bag (about 20 oz) frozen or fresh French fries
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese (or cheese sauce)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: sliced jalapeños, hot sauce, or ranch for topping
Instructions
- Cook the fries: Bake or fry the French fries according to package instructions until golden and crispy. Spread them on a large oven-safe platter or baking sheet.
- Cook the steak: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions (and peppers if using) and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the thinly sliced steak and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 3-5 minutes until the steak is browned and cooked through.
- Assemble: Preheat your oven broiler to high. Arrange the cooked steak and onions evenly over the crispy fries. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top (or drizzle with warm cheese sauce).
- Melt the cheese: Place the loaded fries under the broiler for 1-2 minutes, just until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and top with optional sliced jalapeños, a drizzle of hot sauce, or ranch dressing if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
