Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or ground chicken/turkey)
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 cup mushrooms, diced (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp beef broth) – for thickening
- 1 cup beef broth
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup provolone cheese (or mozzarella/cheddar), shredded
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted with butter
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Add onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and garlic. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until tender.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Pour in beef broth, then add the cornstarch slurry. Stir and let simmer until the mixture thickens (about 3–5 minutes).
- Sprinkle shredded provolone cheese on top and let melt into the beef mixture. Stir to combine.
- Spoon the cheesy beef mixture onto toasted buns.
