Perfectly Rice Cooking Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Combine ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the rice, water, salt, and butter (if using).
  2. Bring to a boil: Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer: Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover the pot tightly with a lid, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
  4. Rest: Remove the pot from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 5 minutes to allow the rice to steam.
  5. Fluff and serve: Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.

Tips:

  • For fluffier rice, rinse the rice in a fine-mesh sieve before cooking.
  • Adjust cooking time based on the type of rice and your desired texture.
  • Don’t lift the lid while the rice is simmering, as this will release steam and prevent the rice from cooking evenly.  
  • For extra flavor, add herbs, spices, or aromatics to the water before cooking.
