Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- Optional: cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar for coating
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
- Combine: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir just until combined—don’t overmix.
- Heat Oil: Heat oil in a deep pan or pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a small cookie scoop or spoon to carefully drop small amounts of batter into the hot oil.
- Fry: Fry in batches, turning occasionally, until doughnuts are golden brown (about 2–3 minutes per side).
- Drain: Use a slotted spoon to remove doughnuts and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Coat: While still warm, roll in cinnamon sugar or dust with powdered sugar.
