INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp melted butter (plus more for brushing)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional: pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon (for extra flavor)
For coating:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- Melted butter for brushing (if baking)
INSTRUCTIONS
If using a mini doughnut pan (baked version):
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease the mini doughnut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and optional cinnamon/nutmeg.
- In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir just until combined.
- Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each mold about 3/4 full.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes or until the tops spring back when lightly pressed.
- Let cool for 5 minutes, then remove from the pan.
- While still warm, brush with melted butter and roll in cinnamon-sugar coating.
If frying:
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the batter as above.
- Drop small spoonfuls or pipe dough into the oil (use a doughnut dispenser or piping bag).
- Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 1–2 minutes per side.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture while still warm.
