Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
- Oil for frying (if deep frying)
Optional toppings:
- Powdered sugar
- Cinnamon sugar
- Melted chocolate or glaze
Instructions
- Prepare the batter:
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. - Add wet ingredients:
In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Add this wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined—don’t overmix. - Heat oil (if frying):
Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C). - Shape the doughnuts:
Use a small cookie scoop or spoon to drop small amounts of batter into the hot oil, or fill a mini doughnut pan if baking. - Cook:
- If frying: Fry the doughnuts for about 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- If baking: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 10–12 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Add toppings:
Roll warm doughnuts in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar, or drizzle with melted chocolate or glaze. - Serve warm and enjoy!
