Perfectly Mini Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • Oil for frying (if deep frying)

Optional toppings:

  • Powdered sugar
  • Cinnamon sugar
  • Melted chocolate or glaze

Instructions

  1. Prepare the batter:
    In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add wet ingredients:
    In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Add this wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined—don’t overmix.
  3. Heat oil (if frying):
    Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Shape the doughnuts:
    Use a small cookie scoop or spoon to drop small amounts of batter into the hot oil, or fill a mini doughnut pan if baking.
  5. Cook:
    • If frying: Fry the doughnuts for about 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
    • If baking: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 10–12 minutes or until lightly golden.
  6. Add toppings:
    Roll warm doughnuts in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar, or drizzle with melted chocolate or glaze.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!
