Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- Optional: Cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar for coating
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined — do not overmix.
- Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop small spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes).
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the doughnuts to a paper towel–lined plate to drain excess oil.
- While warm, roll the mini doughnuts in cinnamon sugar or dust with powdered sugar.
- Serve fresh and enjoy!
