Perfectly Cooked Rice Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1.5 cups water
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the Rice: Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and helps prevent the rice from clumping.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add the rinsed rice, water, and salt to a medium saucepan.
  3. Bring to a Boil: Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat.
  4. Reduce Heat and Simmer: Reduce heat to low, cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the water is absorbed.
  5. Rest: Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 10 minutes. This allows the rice to finish cooking and become fluffy.
  6. Fluff and Serve: Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.

Tips for Perfect Rice:

  • Don’t Peek: Resist the urge to lift the lid during the cooking process, as this can disrupt the steam and affect the texture.
  • Water-to-Rice Ratio: The 1.5-to-1 water-to-rice ratio is a reliable standard. However, if you prefer firmer rice, use less water.
  • High-Quality Rice: Using high-quality long-grain white rice will produce the best results.
