Ingredients
- 4 cups sliced fresh peaches (or 2 cans, drained)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (optional, for extra richness)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish in the oven while it preheats.
- Sweeten the peaches: If using fresh peaches, toss them in 1/2 cup sugar and let sit for 10–15 minutes. If canned, skip this step.
- Mix the batter: In a bowl, combine flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, and vanilla. Stir until smooth.
- Pour batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish—do not stir.
- Spoon peaches over the batter, spreading them out evenly. Pour any peach juices on top.
- Optional: Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon for extra flavor.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
- Cool slightly and serve warm—perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
