- 4 cups fresh or canned sliced peaches (drained if canned)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, for fresh peaches)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for juicy peaches)
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare Peaches: If using fresh peaches, peel and slice them. Toss with 1/2 cup of the sugar and lemon juice (and cornstarch if needed).
- Melt Butter: Pour the melted butter into a 9×9-inch baking dish (or similar size).
- Make Batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and stir until smooth.
- Assemble Cobbler: Pour the batter over the melted butter—do not stir. Spoon the peaches and any juices evenly over the batter—do not stir. Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
- Bake: Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the batter has risen around the peaches.
- Cool & Serve: Let cool slightly. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
