Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in butter: Add cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together heavy cream, egg, vanilla extract, orange zest, and juice. Pour into the dry mixture and stir until just combined.
- Form dough: Transfer dough onto a floured surface, gently knead a few times, and shape into a round disc (about 1-inch thick). Cut into 8 wedges.
- Bake: Place scones on the prepared baking sheet, brush tops with heavy cream, and bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Prepare glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest. Drizzle over warm scones.
