Orange Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • ¾ cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tbsp orange zest
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For Chocolate Orange Glaze (optional):

  • 100 g dark chocolate (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp cream
  • 1 tbsp orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour an 8-inch cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat sugar, eggs, and oil until creamy. Add orange juice, zest, milk, and vanilla. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Stir gently until combined and smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool completely before adding glaze.
  8. For the glaze: melt chocolate and cream together, then mix in orange juice. Pour over cooled cake.

Would you like me to make it eggless also? (I can give an alternative version!)
