Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
- ¾ cup fresh orange juice
- 2 tbsp orange zest
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For Chocolate Orange Glaze (optional):
- 100 g dark chocolate (chopped)
- 2 tbsp cream
- 1 tbsp orange juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour an 8-inch cake pan.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat sugar, eggs, and oil until creamy. Add orange juice, zest, milk, and vanilla. Mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Stir gently until combined and smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely before adding glaze.
- For the glaze: melt chocolate and cream together, then mix in orange juice. Pour over cooled cake.
