- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ¾ cup freshly squeezed orange juice (about 2–3 oranges)
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- ½ cup plain yogurt or sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round or square baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the sugar, eggs, and vegetable oil until light and smooth.
- Stir in the orange juice, orange zest, yogurt, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips gently, ensuring they are evenly distributed in the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve as is or dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch.
