Orange Cake with Chocolate Chips

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup freshly squeezed orange juice (about 2–3 oranges)
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • ½ cup plain yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round or square baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the sugar, eggs, and vegetable oil until light and smooth.
  4. Stir in the orange juice, orange zest, yogurt, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips gently, ensuring they are evenly distributed in the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
  8. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Serve as is or dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch.
