Onion Tea – Tea for Bad Cough (Home Remedy)

Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion (yellow or white)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1–2 teaspoons honey (optional, for taste)
  • 1–2 slices fresh ginger (optional, for extra soothing effect)
  • 1 small piece of cinnamon stick (optional, for flavor)
  • Juice of half a lemon (optional, for vitamin C boost)

Instructions

  1. Peel the onion and cut it into quarters or large chunks.
  2. In a small pot, bring the 2 cups of water to a boil.
  3. Add the chopped onion (and ginger or cinnamon if using) to the boiling water.
  4. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10–15 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and strain the tea into a cup or mug.
  6. Stir in honey and lemon juice if desired.
  7. Sip the tea warm, 1–2 times daily to help soothe a bad cough.

Tip: Onion tea has a strong flavor, but adding honey and lemon makes it more palatable and adds extra soothing properties!
