A creamy, rich dessert made with a luscious nut custard base and topped with a smooth layer of whipped cream. Perfect for any occasion, this dessert blends the earthy flavors of nuts with the sweet creaminess of custard for an unforgettable treat.
Ingredients:
- For the custard:
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup finely ground nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, or walnuts)
- For the topping:
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prepare the custard:
- In a medium saucepan, combine milk, heavy cream, and sugar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally. Do not boil.
- In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks and cornstarch until smooth. Gradually add a small amount of the warm milk mixture to the yolks, whisking constantly to temper.
- Slowly pour the tempered yolk mixture back into the saucepan, whisking continuously. Cook over low heat until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon (about 5–7 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and ground nuts. Pour the custard into serving glasses or bowls and let cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Whip the cream:
- In a chilled bowl, beat heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Spoon or pipe the whipped cream over the chilled custard.
- Garnish and serve:
- Sprinkle with chopped nuts for garnish. Serve chilled and enjoy!
