No-Oven Stovetop Bread recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp oil or melted butter
  • 3/4 cup warm water (adjust as needed)
  • Optional: herbs, garlic powder, or cheese for flavor

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients
    In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients
    Add oil and warm water. Stir until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle in a bit more flour.
  3. Knead the Dough
    Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Rest
    Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  5. Shape the Bread
    Divide into 4–6 portions and flatten into discs about 1/2 inch thick.
  6. Heat the Pan
    Preheat a nonstick or cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease if needed.
  7. Cook
    Place dough discs in the hot skillet. Cook each side for about 3–5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Serve Warm
    Let cool slightly, then enjoy with butter, jam, or as sandwich bread!
