Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups crushed graham crackers or digestive biscuits
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar (optional)

For the Chocolate Custard Layer:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped dark or semi-sweet chocolate

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup whipped cream or whipped topping
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust:
    • In a bowl, combine crushed biscuits, melted butter, and sugar.
    • Press mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9-inch square or round dish.
    • Refrigerate while you prepare the custard.
  2. Make the Chocolate Custard:
    • In a saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt over medium heat.
    • Stir continuously until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil (about 8–10 minutes).
    • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and chopped chocolate until smooth and glossy.
  3. Assemble the Dessert:
    • Pour the warm chocolate custard over the chilled crust and smooth the top.
    • Let it cool at room temperature for about 15 minutes, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set.
  4. Add Topping:
    • Once set, spread whipped cream evenly over the top.
    • Garnish with chocolate shavings or dust with cocoa powder.
  5. Serve:
