Ingredients
For the Crust:
- 2 cups crushed graham crackers or digestive biscuits
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 2 tbsp sugar (optional)
For the Chocolate Custard Layer:
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped dark or semi-sweet chocolate
For the Topping:
- 1 cup whipped cream or whipped topping
- Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Crust:
- In a bowl, combine crushed biscuits, melted butter, and sugar.
- Press mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9-inch square or round dish.
- Refrigerate while you prepare the custard.
- Make the Chocolate Custard:
- In a saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt over medium heat.
- Stir continuously until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil (about 8–10 minutes).
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and chopped chocolate until smooth and glossy.
- Assemble the Dessert:
- Pour the warm chocolate custard over the chilled crust and smooth the top.
- Let it cool at room temperature for about 15 minutes, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set.
- Add Topping:
- Once set, spread whipped cream evenly over the top.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings or dust with cocoa powder.
- Serve:
