Never Knew Applesauce Made Bread This Good!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves (optional)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • ½ cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, beat together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and oil until well combined. Add eggs, one at a time, then mix in applesauce and vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir until just combined—do not overmix.
  5. Add extras (optional): Fold in nuts and/or raisins if using.
  6. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy!
