Never knew applesauce made bread this good!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (or brown sugar for deeper flavor)
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts or raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add sugar, oil, applesauce, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in nuts or raisins if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Slice, serve, and enjoy this moist, tender applesauce bread!
