Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup chopped nuts or raisins (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, beat together the sugar, brown sugar, and oil until well combined. Add the applesauce, eggs, and vanilla, and mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined—do not overmix. Fold in nuts or raisins if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy your deliciously moist applesauce bread!
