Never knew applesauce made bread this good!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup chopped nuts or raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, beat together the sugar, brown sugar, and oil until well combined. Add the applesauce, eggs, and vanilla, and mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined—do not overmix. Fold in nuts or raisins if using.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  6. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Slice, serve, and enjoy your deliciously moist applesauce bread!
