Ingredients
- 4 medium ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 1 small white onion, finely diced
- 2–3 fresh jalapeños or serrano peppers, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Juice of 1–2 limes
- 1–2 teaspoons salt (to taste)
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin (optional, for a deeper flavor)
- Splash of white vinegar (optional, for extra tang)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, onion, peppers, garlic, and cilantro.
- Squeeze in the fresh lime juice and sprinkle with salt. Add cumin and vinegar if using.
- Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning — add more salt, lime juice, or peppers if you like it hotter!
- For best flavor, cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
- Serve with tortilla chips, tacos, grilled meats — or just eat it by the spoonful like my mama and nana did!
