INGREDIENTS

For the Sandwich

  • 8 slices bread (white, sourdough, or sandwich bread)
  • 4 slices chicken ham or turkey ham
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened)

For the Creamy Sauce (Optional – Croque Style)

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Prepare the Sauce (Optional)

  1. Melt butter in a pan on low heat.
  2. Add flour and stir for 1 minute.
  3. Slowly pour in milk while whisking.
