My Husband Wants These Almost Every Day! So Delicious I Make Them 4 Times a Week

Golden, crispy bread layered with savory ham and gooey melted cheese—these baked sandwiches are inspired by the classic Croque Monsieur. They’re buttery on the outside, creamy and cheesy on the inside, and perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a quick dinner!

🧀 INGREDIENTS

  • 8 slices sandwich bread (white, sourdough, or brioche)
  • 8 slices ham
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

👩‍🍳 INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat Oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Prepare Sandwiches: Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Place ham and cheese between two slices of bread (butter side facing out).
  4. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  5. Lightly dip each sandwich into the egg mixture (don’t soak too long).
  6. Arrange sandwiches in the baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle extra cheese on top for a golden, cheesy crust.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  9. Let cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.

✨ TIPS

✔ Use thick-cut bread for extra fluffiness.
✔ Add a thin layer of mustard or mayonnaise for more flavor.
✔ For extra crispiness, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.
✔ Want it richer? Add a fried egg on top and turn it into a brunch-style upgrade!
✔ Best served fresh and hot with a side salad or tomato soup.
