Ingredients
- 1 whole bulb of fresh garlic
- 2–3 cups water
- Optional: pinch of salt, pinch of black pepper, or a sprig of fresh herbs (like thyme or rosemary)
Instructions
- Separate the garlic cloves but keep the skins on. Lightly smash each clove with the side of a knife.
- Bring the water to a gentle boil in a small pot.
- Add the garlic cloves (and any optional herbs or seasoning).
- Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10–15 minutes, until the garlic is tender and the water is fragrant.
- Strain the garlic cloves. You can drink the garlic water as a warm tonic, or cool it and store in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- The boiled garlic cloves can be spread on toast, mashed into potatoes, or stirred into soups for extra flavor and health benefits!
