Ingredients
- 1 medium yellow onion, peeled
- 4–6 whole cloves
- (Optional) 1–2 bay leaves
- Use in: broth, stew, soup, or sauce base
🍲 Instructions
- Peel the onion, leaving it whole.
- Insert cloves into the onion — just press them in, spaced evenly.
- (Optional) Attach a bay leaf to the onion by pinning it with one of the cloves.
- Drop the onion into your pot of stock, soup, or sauce while it simmers.
- Let it cook gently for 30–60 minutes, depending on your dish.
- Once done, remove the onion before serving — it has done its job of flavoring!
