Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons of ground coffee (organic is best)
- 3 tablespoons of coconut oil or castor oil (or a mix of both)
- Optional: a few drops of rosemary or peppermint essential oil for added stimulation
Instructions
- Warm the Oil:
In a small pan over low heat, warm the coconut oil (or castor oil) until it’s just hot—don’t boil. - Add the Coffee:
Stir in the ground coffee. Let the mixture gently heat for 5–10 minutes. This allows the oil to absorb the caffeine and nutrients from the coffee. - Cool and Strain (Optional):
Let the mixture cool, then strain out the coffee grounds using a fine sieve or cheesecloth. You can skip this step if you prefer the grounds in the treatment. - Apply to Scalp:
Massage the oil (with or without grounds) into your scalp using circular motions for 5–10 minutes. This boosts blood circulation and encourages hair growth. - Let It Sit:
Leave the treatment on for at least 30 minutes—or overnight for deep conditioning. - Wash Out:
Shampoo thoroughly (you may need to shampoo twice to remove all oil), then condition as usual. - Repeat:
Use this treatment 2–3 times a week for best results.
Why It Works:
- Caffeine in coffee stimulates hair follicles and improves circulation to the scalp.
- Coconut oil nourishes, moisturizes, and protects the hair shaft.
- Castor oil is rich in ricinoleic acid, known to promote hair growth.
- Essential oils like rosemary can further improve results by enhancing blood flow.
