Mini Sugar Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients
    In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients
    In another bowl, combine milk, yogurt, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  3. Combine
    Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir just until combined – do not overmix.
  4. Heat Oil
    In a deep pot, heat oil over medium heat to about 350°F (175°C).
  5. Form Doughnuts
    Use a small scoop or spoon to drop batter into the hot oil (about 1-inch balls). Fry a few at a time.
  6. Fry Until Golden
    Cook for about 2–3 minutes, turning halfway, until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Drain & Coat
    Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. While still warm, roll doughnuts in granulated sugar.
  8. Serve Warm
