These delightful mini donut holes are soft, fluffy, and perfect for any occasion. Coated in cinnamon sugar or drizzled with glaze, they make a delicious treat for breakfast or a snack!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk (or milk with 1 tsp vinegar added)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter until well combined.
  3. Combine:
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat the Oil:
In a deep skillet or pot, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the Donut Holes:
Using a small cookie scoop or your hands, carefully drop small balls of dough into the hot oil. Fry in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, turning them occasionally until they are golden brown.
  6. Drain and Coat:
Remove the donut holes with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. While they are still warm, toss them in cinnamon sugar or drizzle with glaze.
  7. Serve:
Enjoy your mini donut holes warm!

Optional Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Mix the ingredients together until smooth and dip the tops of the donut holes in the glaze. Let them set before serving. Enjoy!
