Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (24 oz) jar marinara or pasta sauce
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 box lasagna noodles (regular or oven-ready)
- 1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese
- 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook Meat Sauce:
- In a large skillet or pot over medium heat, cook the ground beef, Italian sausage, and diced onion until browned.
- Drain excess fat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.
- Stir in marinara sauce, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10–15 minutes.
- Make Cheese Filling:
- In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, and egg. Mix until smooth.
- Assemble Lasagna:
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer with lasagna noodles.
- Spread some of the cheese mixture over noodles.
- Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Repeat layers: sauce, noodles, cheese mixture, mozzarella, and Parmesan until all ingredients are used, ending with meat sauce and a final topping of mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Bake:
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 20–25 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Cool and Serve:
- Let lasagna rest for at least 10–15 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
