Mille-Feuille Creamy Dessert Delight Recipe

This Mille-Feuille, also known as the Napoleon pastry, is a classic French dessert that layers crispy puff pastry with luscious cream and topped with a sweet glaze. It’s perfect for special occasions or when you want to treat yourself!

Ingredients:

For the Puff Pastry:

  • 1 package of frozen puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed

For the Cream Filling:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: cocoa powder or melted chocolate for decoration

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry:
    • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface to smooth out any creases.
    • Cut each sheet into rectangles (about 3×5 inches).
    • Place the rectangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Prick the surface with a fork to prevent puffing too much during baking.
    • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden and flaky. Allow to cool completely.
  2. Make the Cream Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
    • Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cornstarch while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
    • Place the whipped cream in a piping bag or a zip-top bag with the corner snipped off for easy assembly.
  3. Assemble the Mille-Feuille:
    • On a serving platter, place one rectangle of puff pastry as the base.
    • Pipe a layer of the cream filling over the pastry.
    • Top with another rectangle of puff pastry, pressing gently.
    • Repeat with another layer of cream and top with a final pastry layer.
  4. Prepare the Glaze:
    • In a bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk if needed.
    • Pour the glaze over the top layer of the pastry.
  5. Decorate:
    • Optional: Dust with cocoa powder or drizzle melted chocolate over the glaze for decoration.
  6. Serve:
    • Allow the Mille-Feuille to set in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving. Cut into portions and enjoy your delicious creamy delight!
