MAWA CUP CAKE

Mawa Cup Cakes are rich, dense, and flavorful treats made with mawa (milk solids) that give these cupcakes a soft and moist texture. Perfect for tea-time or dessert, these cupcakes are simple to prepare and packed with Indian-inspired sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mawa (khoya)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Slivered almonds or pistachios (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a cupcake tray with cupcake liners.
  2. Prepare the Mawa: If using store-bought mawa, crumble it into small pieces. If making fresh mawa, cook milk over low heat until it thickens into milk solids and set aside to cool.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cardamom powder, and salt. Set aside.
  4. Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add Eggs: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix.
  6. Incorporate Mawa: Fold in the mawa (khoya) into the butter-sugar mixture. Mix well to ensure it’s evenly distributed.
  7. Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk, and mix until you get a smooth batter.
  8. Fill the Cupcake Liners: Pour the batter into the cupcake liners, filling them about 3/4 full. Garnish with slivered almonds or pistachios if desired.
  9. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool and Serve: Allow the cupcakes to cool in the tray for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy these rich, delicious Mawa Cup Cakes with tea or as a dessert!

These cupcakes are perfect for festivals, celebrations, or any time you crave something special!
